Hi,with the DDP,can you choose an appetizer instead of a dessert with the TS credit? Can a TS meal be shared at Sci-FI? Thank you for all your help,Janice

Welcome back to planDisney, Janice! It looks like your trip is just a few short days away, and you've got some exciting plans to celebrate Halloween at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party while feasting your way around the Walt Disney World Resort with the Disney Dining Plan! Let's dish about the details so you'll be ready to dig into the magic of mealtime!

Janice, I've always been a big fan of the Disney dining plans because of the flexibility they offer on how and when we dine and snack, and most of all, I love knowing that the bill has already been paid so I can focus on mealtime memories with my family. With the return of the dining plans this year, substitutions for appetizers in place of dessert options at table service restaurants are not allowed. While this may not be the answer you were hoping for, there are some really fantastic desserts out there that may change your mind! Check out the Espresso Martini Creme Brulee at Steakhouse 71!

As far as meal-sharing, when using the Disney Dining Plan, most table-service restaurants expect that one meal will be redeemed for each Guest dining with the meal plan, and the Disney Dining Plan states that meals are not transferable among party members. Whether the specific restaurant will allow two Guests to share one meal under the Disney Dining Plan would need to be confirmed with that particular location. I would recommend inquiring ahead of your reservation about the specific policy at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant so you will know what to expect. One option that might work would be to use one table service meal and then pay out of pocket for that appetizer you mentioned for your second guest. On my most recent visit to this restaurant, one of my travel companions wanted the chicken noodle soup, and though it is only available on the kid's menu, they were able to accommodate her request in an adult portion for her meal! The best advice I can give is to ask ahead of time so that everyone will know what to expect.

Janice, I hope this is helpful! I'm sure you're going to have a magical vacation and enjoy lots of delicious dining along the way! Be sure to check out some of the specialty Halloween treats while you're there - keep an eye out for the purple and white Disney dining plan logo for items that might be able to be redeemed with some of your snack credits! If you have any other planning questions, feel free to come back to planDisney and let us know! We'll save you a seat at the table!

    Bon Appetit,
    Alison
