Hi! What is the best time in Oct. to visit WDW? I was thinking the week before or after Thanksgiving hoilday(Canadian) Columbas Day.(American). What usually is the weather like? Thanks

    Diane:

"Best" can mean a lot of things to different people: low crowds, no threat of hurricanes, cool weather, decorations, or even price.

Our family usually makes our trips in October because we like all of the above and typically can find it all during the last week of the month around Halloween. We find a significant drop in the temperature, while all of the fall harvest decor abounds in the parks and in the resorts. Columbus Day and Fall Break crowds have left and, although the pricing isn't Value Season, it certainly isn't a holiday weekend.

With Canadian Thanksgiving (the second Monday of October) falling on the same day as Columbus Day (October 12)  this year, you're going to find the week of October 12 slightly more crowded than the week before, however, it is the weekend that's the busiest, and Epcot's Food & Wine festival makes this even more a possibility. However, going the week of Columbus Day puts you one week further away from Hurricane Season and high temperatures. So pick which one is more of a priority: a little lower crowds or the possibility of just a little lower temps.

We find that we wear shorts during the day but will carry a light jacket at night. The weather in Orlando is unpredictable no matter what time of year you visit (well, except for summer when it is simply hot all the time). Purchase a few rain ponchos at home and you'll reduce that potential expenditure, too.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
