Hi, We're going to Disney World in a week, & the forecast shows that there are going to be scattered thunderstorms during our entire stay. What should we expect with Florida's scattered thunderstorms & how much do they affect the rides?

    Hello Roya!

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Afternoon rain showers and thunder storms are a common occurrence in Florida and Walt Disney World Resort. Some parks could be effected while other parks stay dry.

I recommend bringing ponchos and throwing a pair of flip flops in a backpack to change shoes just in case the rain gets heavy. Most of the rides and attractions continue to run during rain, even some outside rides. It just depends on the amount of rain. If there is lightning in the area, then some outdoor rides close for guest safety. There are still many indoor attractions and shows where you can enjoy yourselves in the theme parks. One bonus is that wait times can be shorter during the rain.

Often the storm will pass through quickly, but sometimes they are here to stay. Mother Nature can be temperamental. Usually Cast Members are helpful in relaying the information they have received about the weather and closures.

I hope you stay dry! If you have any other questions, please come back and see us real soon.
