Hi, We're going on a Disney Cruise for the first time in Nov. We are looking at the activities at Nassau. Which one is better between Atlantis Dolphin Cay Dip ‘N Discover and Aquaventure ans Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Encounter please. thank you

    Hi Christine!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! With your Disney Cruise Line vacation just a few months away, it’s time to really start planning your vacation!  Your adventure on the high seas will be here before you know it and I am so excited for you and the fun that awaits you onboard and at sea!

I always look forward to our Online Check-In date to arrive because it means I can get things finalized so all I have to do is show up ready to enjoy!  But that usually means that I also have to decide between some pretty incredible options, which can be hard!  First things first…you won’t go wrong with either of these dolphin encounter adventures!  While my family has not done a dolphin encounter in Nassau, we have done one when sailing through the Baja and my boys had the best time…and still talk about it today!  Disney Cruise Line’s Port Adventure team does an amazing job of finding the best of the best opportunities, facilities and encounters for Guests to experience, so I am certain you will be pleased with either!

From my resEARch of the two, the main differences that I see are the length of time and a waterpark vs. beach visit afterward!  The Atlantis has an incredible waterpark that this excursion gives you access to after your dolphin encounter.  I do advise checking the height requirements for many of the attractions at the waterpark because on a previous visit we were limited as to what we could do because of my boys’ heights.  So, if you have littler Mouseketeers traveling with you, you may run into the same issue, so definitely check before making your decision!  If you opt for the aquaventure excursion, you are able to stay as long as you like, catching return shuttles throughout the day so that gives you flexibility to do what you want – for as long as you want – as long as you don’t miss the “All Aboard” time!  The dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon is basically just the dolphin encounter with the option for Guests who book an early dolphin encounter to stay at the beach and catching a later ferry back to the ship.  The beach at Blue Lagoon is fantastic and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a leisurely day at the beach or plan on heading directly back to the ship after your encounter, but if you prefer some more adventure then you may want to consider the Atlantis option.

No matter what you choose, Christine, you will have an amazing time and make some incredible memories…I mean, who wouldn’t remember their first smooch from a dolphin?!?!

Wishing you the best adventure yet,
    Stephanie
