Hi! We are visiting Disney for the fist time next June. I've already made all kind of princess planning (character meals & shows) for my 8 years old own princess but what can I plan for my 12 years old preteen? Anything special for him?

Hello Karla! Your first Walt Disney World vacation already sounds so amazing. You didn't specify when in June you would be going, but if your 12-year-old son loves Star Wars, then Star Wars Weekends would be perfect for him. Star Wars weekends go through June 14, 2015 and there are many special things that you could plan for your son to do. Here are some examples:

*Star Wars Dine-in Galactic Breakfast- Join the rebellion! This Character Dining Experience is at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant and will feature Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, Jawas, and Greedo. There are fun Star Wars themed breakfast foods and clips from the Stars Wars films projected onto the big screen.

*Jedi Training Academy- Is your son a true Jedi Knight? Put him through the training and hear him take the Jedi Oath as he learns what it takes to fight against the Dark Side. This is for ages 4-12 so make sure he is able to take advantage of this experience before he phases out of the age group.

If your son is not a huge Star Wars fan, you could schedule some Character Dining Experiences with the Fab Five; Mickey, Goofy Minnie, Donald and Pluto. Chef Mickey's and Tusker House are our favorites.

I think that the Wild Africa Trek is also something that would be fun for all of you to enjoy. It is a privately guided tour with close encounters of exotic animals. You will surely make magical memories on this adventure across a shaky rope bridge. It can get a bit pricey, but is definitely worth checking out if you are a nature-loving family full of adventure.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to stop by and we'd be happy to help. Have a magical first Walt Disney World vacation!

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
