Hi Christina! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for your service to our country.
Mine is also a military family, and, like you, we had 2020 Military Promotional Theme Park Tickets that we were unable to use due to the pandemic. Then, my husband was deployed in 2020 and didn't return until this past summer. Those tickets were burning a hole in my pocket, and I'm sure you are so ready to use those tickets in 2022!
It's true that
the value of most unexpired Walt Disney World Resort theme parks tickets can be applied to the purchase of new tickets, as long as the new ticket has equal or greater value. It's a little trickier with the military tickets because they are promotional tickets, but you have several options. If you purchased your tickets at a base ticket office (and MWR or ITT), I would check with them first. The staff at the office may be issuing refunds or credits toward purchase of
2022 Disney Military Salute tickets. I recommend calling or emailing before visiting the base, as many base offices don't keep a supply of tickets on hand.
If you purchased your tickets from
Shades of Green, they are always really helpful, and I would give them a call to find out your options for applying the value of your 2020 tickets to new theme park tickets.
Another option is to reach out directly to Walt Disney World Resort's Guest Relations. You may call them at (407) 934-7639 or reach out via
email. If emailing, send a copy of the front and back of your ticket cards or exchange certificates. In my experience, Disney Cast Members truly understand the challenges of travel for military members and want to help you plan your magical R&R.
Once you've got your tickets sorted out, be sure to link them to your My Disney Experience account and make your
Disney Park Pass Reservations. These theme park reservations are required for each day you plan to enter a Disney Park, and it's best to make reservations early to ensure availability.
Thank you for stopping by with your question, Christina! It's always a pleasure to assist a fellow Virginian and another military family, and I hope you'll come back and see us if you have any further questions as you plan and dream.
Wishing you much magic,
Robyn
