Hi, We are planning a trip to WDW spring of 2012, party of 8 (2 kids under 12). Just wondering what resort is best to stay in that's close to the theme parks (especially Magic Kingdom) since we have 2 grandparents who cannot walk long distances.

    Hi!

WDW is twice the size of Manhattan, therefore there is no single resort that is close to everything.

If proximity to the Magic Kingdom is important, the only hotel within walking distance to the MK entrance is the Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake  Tower. The Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts are all on the monorail line which stops at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. These resorts also have boat service to the MK.

You'll find boat transportation from Ft. Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge to the MK.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is closest to the Animal Kingdom park but not within walking distance. Transportation is provided by bus.

The Yacht and Beach Club resort and Boardwalk Inn are closest to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. There is boat transportation to both parks. In addition, Epcot is a pleasant walk.

For mobility concerns, you may want to consider renting an ECV (electrical convenience vehicle) while in the parks. If an ECV would be convenient to have available at your resort, I would suggest renting one from an outside company such as www.caremedicalequipment.com.

For the "wow" factor, I would suggest Wilderness Lodge! It's not a sprawling resort and it's fun for all ages!
