Hi, We are planning our first trip for our daughters birthday in April. They will be 2 and 5. Does the park offer anything for birthday vist? Also how does the character dining work is it something I need to schedule in advance? Thanks

Hi Barbara! Walt Disney World is the best place to celebrate birthdays as it is so magical in so many ways. It will certainly be memorable for all.

The parks do not specifically recognize guest birthdays with give aways or gifts. But please stop by Guest Relations as soon as you enter a park and pick up the Celebration buttons for your girls to wear. They will receive Happy Birthday greetings from cast members and guests all day which will make them smile even more. Wherever you choose to dine on their birthdays let the person at the check-in kiosks know you will want a small cake for the table. You can surprise the girls when it arrives and many times the cast members working will come and serenade with the Happy Birthday song. You can also consider buying a Disney birthday hat for them to wear although the two year old might hold it more then wear it. In any case you can be sure of a fun day for all.

Character dining is very popular for families coming to Walt Disney World.  One of my favorites is Chef Mickey in the Contemporary Resort as you will meet the fabulous five in one location....Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. With daughters who might be infatuated with the Disney princesses consider the princess dining at Akershus in the Norway pavilion in Epcot. They will meet and greet 4-5 different princesses and have the opportunity to get photos and autographs.

You definitely need to reserve this in advance and as soon as your 180 window opens I recommend being on line or on the phone to do this. The demand is great and they will fill up quickly so you won't want to be disappointed. You can check out the menus on allears.net for all of them to decide which appeals to you the most and then book! It will be a vacation of a lifetime!
