Hi! We are a military family coming in March. We have a hotel reservation at Shades of Green and are planning to get our park tickets from there as well. How do we make park reservations before we arrive if we are picking up our tickets at the resort?

    Hello Scott!

Thank you for sending your question to the planDisney Panel about your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort and your stay at Shades of Green. It's always a pleasure to help fellow military families plan their Disney vacations.

Regarding your park tickets and making reservations, there have been some recent changes to the theme park reservation requirements. The good news is that theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets, which include date-based 1-day and multi-day tickets, as well as vacation packages that come with date-based tickets.

However, if you are planning on purchasing the Disney Military Salute Tickets from Shades of Green, these tickets still require theme park reservations. You can contact Shades of Green before your arrival to order your tickets. They'll mail them to you, allowing you to link the tickets to your My Disney Experience account and make your park reservations in advance of your visit. I have done this many times before and it is convenient! Keep in mind that if you wait to purchase the tickets once you reach Shades of Green, the ticket office has limited hours and I have personally experienced long waits in line.

On the Shades of Green website, you'll find all the necessary information, including a ticket request form. Having your tickets and reservations sorted out beforehand will make your visit much smoother.

A helpful tip: Once your park days are planned, consider exploring dining options within the parks and making reservations for meals. Advance dining reservations can provide a relaxing break during your fun-filled park days.

Scott, should you have any more questions or need a helping hand with your Disney plans, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here for you! Sending warm wishes for a truly enchanting trip to Walt Disney World Resort for you and your family!
