Hi, We are going to Disney World from Nov 18-24. Is Downtown Disney open on Thanksgiving? Do you have any suggestions of which parks to go to avoid some of the crowds? Thank you

    Hi Sherry!

How fun to be visiting Walt Disney World over the Thanksgiving holiday!  The parks will be decorated for the Holiday season, and this will put you in the most festive of moods.  The Holidays are one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World.  All the decorations make the Happiest Place on Earth even more magical.  All of the shops at Downtown Disney and at the theme parks will be open on Thanksgiving the regular store hours.  Check with your Times Guide when you arrive for the hours.  The schedule is not out yet for Park Hours after August.  Please check back at the website for help in how to plan your day.  I usually look when the Extra Magic Hours and utilize these to minimize crowds. Usually Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios are the less crowded parks to visit.  That being said, Thanksgiving is not as crowded as other holidays such as Easter, New Year's Eve, and Christmas.  One suggestion that I would have is to make sure you make your reservations for dining at 180 days out.  Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom is a wonderful meal, especially on Thanksgiving.  Have a magical vacation!
