Ahoy there, Emily. Welcome to planDisney!
It looks like you'll have a fun itinerary on your upcoming sailing aboard the
Disney Dream. We sailed the Mediterranean 2 years ago on the Dream departing from Barcelona as well. We really enjoyed our time visiting the many ports of call, learning about different cultures and trying all the delicious food in that region.
As they say, the ship waits for no one. A good rule of thumb is to arrive to the Embarkation Port at least a day in advance, in case you encounter any hiccups such as flight delays or cancellations. Because my family lives in California, the flight to Barcelona takes at least 12 hours and crosses numerous time zones. For our cruise out of Barcelona, we actually arrived several days prior to our sailing. That way, we had the chance to adjust our biological clock and manage any jet lag we had. This also gave us the opportunity to explore the various attractions in and around Barcelona, such as Las Ramblas, Gothic Quarter, Montserrat, La Boqueria Market, Casa Batllo and Casa Mila, and of course, Sagrada Familia! Since you’re returning back to Barcelona at the end of your cruise, you may decide you’d rather check out the beautiful city afterwards. Regardless, I highly recommend arriving at least a day prior to your sailing.
And speaking of explorations, have you had the opportunity to check out the different
Port Adventures available during your upcoming cruise? There are lots of excursions to choose from at each port of call. Whether you prefer a leisurely paced walking tour or a thrill-seeking escapade,
Disney Cruise Line offers something for everyone.
If you have more trip-planning questions as you continue to plan your cruise, please don’t hesitate to sail by
planDisney again.
Hope to SEA ya real soon,
Kiki
