Hi.. This is my first time here, and trying to plan our 1st ever family vacation, any advice and tips are helpful...We want to see and do everything but not sure what is best for kids ages 8 and 3... Looking to go in late Oct/Nov or a non traditional time

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I think you are considering a great time to go.  October is one of my favorite times with two special events offered in Walt Disney World then:  Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

I suggest considering going for at least 6 nights to give you 5 full days in the parks.  You can easily spend two days in the Magic Kingdom with young children and one day at each of the other parks.  Most of the attractions at Walt Disney World were designed with the whole family in mind, so you should visit all of the parks.

I would also suggest staying on property so that you can easily get back to your room for an afternoon nap or just a break.  If your budget allows, I suggest staying in a Magic Kingdom monorail resort to give you easy access to both the Magic Kingdom and, via a monorail transfer, to Epcot.  The Polynesian is my favorite Magic Kingdom monorail resort.  You should also consider staying at the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which can be considerably less expensive than the other Disney Deluxe Resorts.

Finally, I suggest picking up the tour book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it is full of information, but it is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.

I hope this helps!  I would be happy to help more.  Just write back with more questions!
