Wallis from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I just was hired by a firm in California. I see there will be a California resident promotion. Can i use a passport and a paystub with my california address for proof of residency?

Hi there, Wallis! Welcome to planDisney!

First of all, congratulations on your new job in California—that’s such an exciting milestone, and what a wonderful time to start dreaming about future Disneyland visits, too. I’m glad you asked about the California resident promotion, because the details around eligibility are important to understand before you make a purchase.

For the current California resident ticket offer, Disney requires proof of eligible residency using a valid government-issued photo ID both at the time of purchase and again when you arrive at the parks. While a passport is, in fact, a form of government-issued photo identification, it does not display a residential address. Unfortunately, even when paired with a paystub that shows a California address, a passport still wouldn’t meet the residency verification requirement because the ID itself must include both your photo and a valid California address. I know that’s probably not the answer you were hoping for—especially with such an exciting new chapter unfolding—but I wanted to explain how the verification works so you can plan with confidence.

The good news, Wallis, is that once you do have a California driver’s license or state ID that reflects your new address, you’ll be fully eligible to take advantage of resident-exclusive offers like this in the future. In the meantime, there are still some great ways to find value while you’re getting settled. It’s always worth checking the special offers page on the Disneyland website, where rotating ticket, hotel, and seasonal promotions are often available to all Guests. If you’re flexible with your travel dates, you may also find excellent value by bundling theme park tickets with a Disneyland Resort hotel stay, and multi-day tickets can help lower your per-day cost if you’re planning to spend more than one day in the parks.

I hope this keeps your excitement moving forward as you settle into life in California, Wallis—your adventures here are just beginning! And the timing couldn’t be more perfect, because the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration is happening right now! There’s something timeless about strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. during a milestone year like this—it’s like wandering through generations of Disney storytelling while the newest memories are still being made around you.

Wallis, once your California ID catches up with your new address, you’ll be in a great spot to experience that magic with the added bonus of resident perks. And if you’d like help exploring ticket options in the meantime or planning your first special 70th Celebration visit, please feel free to come back and visit us here at planDisney—we’d be happy to help anytime.

Here’s to lots of Disney magic ahead!
