Hi Thomas!
I hope you enjoy staying at the
Fort Wilderness Cabins as much as my family does. The recently refurbished cabins look amazing and offer the guests a special way to enjoy the great outdoors while also playing in the amazing Disney parks.
Renting a
Golf Cart is an added expense to the vacation but when staying in Fort Wilderness it is certainly a great addition. Reservations are accepted so be sure and do that as soon as possible as many busy times will book out way ahead.
To get around the Fort you can either walk, use a golf cart, or use the internal bus system. To reach the Magic Kingdom the only way to do this directly from Fort Wilderness is to use the boat. This leaves every 15-20 minutes at the marina. It drops you off directly in front of the park so you will have very little walking to get to the entrance queue. When you arrive at the marina it is the queue line on the left for the Magic Kingdom boat. If you wish to go to the Contemporary or the Wilderness Lodge resorts you can take the smaller boats in the right queue.
To reach the other theme parks and also Disney Springs you will need to head to the front of the resort where the main bus area is located. You will catch a bus to the location you desire and they also run about every 15-20 minutes as any other resort. There is a great sign located there letting you know when the next bus is coming for each park.
You can take the internal buses to both the main bus depot and the marina or you can drive your golf cart to both spots. There is golf cart parking making it convenient and safe. I think you will find it very easy to get around Fort Wilderness once you arrive. They will provide you with a map when you check-in. Enjoy!
