Hi J,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I love that you’ll be spending a Halloween day at Magic Kingdom Park with your 15-year-old! The park decorations are extra-magical during autumn, and there are so many fun Halloween touches throughout the parks. You will make some wonderful memories.
Your question is tricky, because Walt Disney World Resort’s
Park Rules prohibit guests older than 14 wearing costumes. Having said that, if the costumes aren’t very elaborate and really look like regular clothes, you might be fine. If there are accessories or parts to the costume that can be removed to make the costume seem move “everyday,” perhaps you could keep those in a backpack throughout the day and then change for party time? I would also encourage this because it can be very hot in Orlando, even in October, and you will likely want your attire to be as lightweight as possible.
One of my favorite things about a Disney trip is putting together fun themed outfits, and I know many Guests enjoy
DisneyBounding, where they dress in an outfit “inspired by” a character that isn’t a costume. I see lots of Guests dressed in Disney-themed outfits that aren’t technically costumes, so depending on what you have planned, you might be absolutely fine. My advice is to look at the park rules and the
guidance on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and then use your best judgment.
Wishing you a magical vacation and a spook-tacular Halloween,
Robyn
