Hi! My wife is running the half-marathon this weekend. We have reservations at Beaches and Cream after the end of the race. What's the best way to get from the front of Epcot to Beaches and Cream without having a park reservation? Thanks, Corey

    Hi Corey!

I'm glad that you raced into planDisney with this question. It's so great to see that you'll be cheering on your wife this weekend as she runs the Walt Disney World Half Marathon!  runDisney likes to remind us that "every mile is magic" and, after participating in several events over the years, I can say that is definitely true.

It sounds like you have a wonderful plan to celebrate her accomplishment with a visit to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop.  After 13.1 miles around the Walt Disney World Resort, one of their famous sundaes would be a great way to end your meal. . .maybe even the Kitchen Sink!  My family and I shared one a few years ago and it's a dessert experience I won't soon forget.  I highly recommend it to everyone with a sweet tooth.

Since I'm not participating in this weekend's runDisney event, I did call and speak with a cast member to confirm that nothing had changed since my last race before answering your question about race day transportation.  I'm happy to share with you that getting from the finish line to your dining reservation will be a breeze as runDisney continues to offer bus transportation from the finish line to the BoardWalk area resorts - no need to walk through EPCOT and exit via the International Gateway.  Just follow the signs from the finish line to the resort buses and they will be marked with each of their destinations.  You'll find Beaches and Cream at Disney's Beach Club Resort.

Throughout your entire stay, I encourage your wife to proudly wear her medal so that cast members and other guests can congratulate her on a job well done!  I love posing for pictures around Walt Disney World Resort wearing my medal and race shirt in the days following my run.  Don't forget to also check out the Digital Expo & Event Guide for information on discounts at Disney Springs for runners.  All she needs is her bib or medal to access some great deals on shopping and dining!

I'm sending lots of pixie dust to your wife as she runs the half marathon this weekend.  I'll be following along with all of the fun from home while dreaming of my next runDisney event.  Have a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World Resort and please stop by planDisney again if you have any other questions!

    Cheers,
    Kristi
