Hi! My teen and I are coming in June. I was reading that it's wise to come without bags so you can bypass security and get to the fun faster. Can I still choose this option if I have a wristlet wallet? It's not as big as purse but carries alot.

Greetings, Shawnna, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You’re going to make so many special memories with your teen this summer!

I completely understand wanting to make the most of your Disney day by traveling light! Every Guest entering the Disneyland Resort will need to go through a security checkpoint, no matter which direction they’re entering from. The security checkpoints are currently set up with a bag-check followed by a metal detector. Any bags, including a wristlet wallet, are subject to search at bag check. I’ve had my wallet checked before at a security checkpoint, so there’s a good chance your wristlet will need to be checked, too. Once you’re past the bag check, you’ll set your wristlet in a small tray as you pass through the metal detector, just like you would at the airport. In my experience, this process moves very efficiently, especially when traveling lightly.

Plus, you’ll only need to go through the security checkpoint upon entering the Downtown Disney District or the Main Entrance Esplanade, which is usually only once or twice a day, if you decide to take a break at a nearby hotel room. If you’re worried about a long wait in the morning, I recommend arriving about 45 minutes before park opening.

There are so many exciting things to see and do at the theme parks this June! For starters, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be open, though you’ll need a reservation to access it through June 23, 2019. We’ll know more about how to make a reservation on May 2, so stay tuned to this page of the Disneyland Resort website at 8:00 AM Pacific for more details. Reservations will be available later that day at 10:00 AM. I recommend creating a Disney account before May 2 so that you’re ready to make your reservation as soon as the system is available.

Also, the last day to experience Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration, is June 6. So, if you’re arriving prior to that date, I recommend watching the nighttime extravaganza, Mickey’s Mix Magic, full of catchy tunes and colorful projections. You’ll be dancing along in no time!

Wishing you magic at the Happiest Place on Earth!
