Hi Jaime!
Welcome to planDisney! I know that visiting after a break can feel very overwhelming, especially with so many changes, but I'm happy to help you through them so you feel confident about your visit.
Let's go over
Disability Access Service (DAS) first. Designed to help guests who are unable to use traditional queues due to a disability, there are two ways to sign up for DAS. You and your son can always visit Guest Relations as soon as you arrive at the park to get signed up, but you can also register online before your visit!
DAS Advance allows guests to have a video chat with a Cast Member up to 30 days before the first day you are in the parks. Don't wait too long, because your video chat must take place at least two days before you're planning to be in the parks. Before your chat make sure that you have purchased theme park tickets and made park reservations for everyone in your party on your Disney account. During the chat (which your son will need to be present for) a Cast Member will get you all set up, help you
make a few advance reservations, explain the process of selecting additional experiences when you're in the parks, and answer any questions you have.
When you're ready to
register for DAS Advance you can join the online queue by clicking "Request Live Chat" between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM Pacific Time. Sometimes the queue can be long, so make sure you have some free time at home when you join the queue. Don't let the wait estimate scare you off, either. My friend registered her son just this week and the queue moved much faster than the estimated time. It's definitely much better to get it done from home!
Now let's talk about using
MagicBand+ in the parks! I think purchasing a band for your son is a great idea because it allows him to "tap" in at the park gates and also when you're using your DAS return times. You can purchase a MagicBand+ on shopDisney before your trip (it might make a fun holiday gift) or you can buy one when you arrive at the resort. You'll need to
set up your MagicBand+ by paring it to your mobile device and assigning it to the ticket of the person who wants to use it through the
Disneyland Mobile App. It usually only takes a minute to get going, but there are some
helpful troubleshooting tips online as well if you have trouble. Cast Members are the park are happy to help as well!
Ok, we're making great progress! The last part of your question asked about the
entertainment schedule. The calendar only goes about six weeks into the future, so it may be a few weeks before your dates appear. Keep checking!
Jaime, there are so many wonderful new things at the Disneyland Resort. I wish I had space left to share them all!
If you have more questions about what is new you can send me a note here and I'd be glad to help you again. Keep moving forward!
Amanda
