Hi Ashley,
I'm a big fan of bringing my own stroller. I find that it's less expensive and more convenient than renting one in the parks. While strollers are available in all of the theme parks and at Downtown Disney, I find that Disney trips involve a lot of walking outside of "stroller rental areas". For example, the Boardwalk is a great place to spend an evening, but strollers aren't available for rent. In addition, some kids find the walks from the bus loading and unloading areas to the entrance of the parks to be a bit overwhelming (lots of people, lots of buses, everyone rushing to the main gates...you get the picture.) We found it easy to "plop" our two kids in their respective strollers upon departing the buses and skirt through to the gates of the park we were heading to. Similarly, it seemed easier to give the kids a book, sippy cup, etc. as we were going through security and the entrance turnstiles when they were seated in their strollers. Trying to keep them "under wraps" while opening our bags for security, hunting for tickets, etc. would have been a challenge.
Finally, my kids always had a knack for passing out as we exited the parks. It was a lot easier to "cart" them out to the buses or monorails sleeping versus carrying them after having to return our stroller. Obviously, these are my opinions. If your child uses a stroller infrequently, renting one might be a good option. Similarly, a lot of people with older children who rarely use a stroller find that renting one to allow their children a quick rest after hours of walking the "Disney Beat" is very convenient.
