Greetings, Beth!
I love hearing you and your husband are runDisney fans! There really is nothing like running Disney. I also want you to know you are in my thoughts as you continue your breast cancer treatments. I am hopeful you will be back to your normal running pace very soon.
There are a few ways you can still be a part of the runDisney magic while you wait for the ok to begin running again.
1. Family Fun Run 5k events are actually untimed, though there are race clocks on the course. Additionally, once you've entered the portion of the course within the theme parks, you won't have to worry about being swept-- making this distance a viable option for your participation.
2. Another idea to keep you involved with the runDisney organization when participating in a race may not be an option, is to consider being a
runDisney Volunteer during a race event. This would give you the opportunity to be the ultimate cheerleader as you motivate and inspire runners to the finish. Some volunteer opportunities even include complementary theme park tickets.
Also, runDisney has recently started a great new initiative called
"I runDisney", I am sure they would love to hear your story! There is also a great clip of a runDisney fan who battled and beat breast cancer herself. You can check it out by selecting the highlighted link.
I hope this information is helpful, Beth! Staying involved with something you love and with something that brings a little bit of magic into your life is instrumental in your recovery. I wish you all the best and hope to hear from you again!
Keep Fighting!
