Hi there, Claire! Oh boy! A Disneyland day with your friend? That sounds practically perfect in every way! Getting your questions answered now as you plan just means more time for magic—and maybe even a churro break later!
Let’s talk about
Lightning Lane Multi Pass! You have an excellent question here. Since the pass works uniquely with each person's park ticket, both you and your friend will indeed need to purchase your own Lightning Lane Multi Pass for your visit.
But don’t worry—even though you're buying tickets separately, you can absolutely team up for your park strategy! Once you both have your park tickets, you can easily link them together in the
Disneyland mobile app and make Lightning Lane selections for both of you at the same time. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?! To link your tickets, just open the app, tap the menu button (three-lined icon) at the bottom right, and tap the “My Tickets & Passes” tile. Next, press the plus sign (+) in the top right, then tap “Link Tickets & Passes”. From there, you can link your friend’s ticket using your camera or by tapping a MagicBand+, or you can also manually enter the ticket number. Piece of cake!
Now, to help you make the most of your Lightning Lane Multi Pass on your visit, let's chat about how it works once you're in the magic! Your pass automatically activates the moment you scan your ticket and step foot into either
Disneyland Park or
Disney California Adventure Park for the day. When you're ready to make your first selection, just open your trusty Disneyland app! Tap the menu button at the bottom right, then tap “Today's Plans” and select the “Tip Board” tab at the top. There, you'll see the current list of attractions included with the Multi Pass and their next available return times. Simply find the one you want, tap the “Select” button, confirm your party (you and your linked friend!), and follow the prompts to secure your return window.
Once your return time arrives, head over to the attraction and look for the Lightning Lane entrance. You'll just need to scan your park ticket or MagicBand+ with the Cast Member there, and you're on your way! And here’s a super handy trick: as soon as you've scanned into that Lightning Lane, you can immediately hop back into the app and book your next ride using your Multi Pass! Keep in mind you can also book a new selection every two hours (starting from park opening or when you booked your last one), whichever time comes first. Also, if you have Park Hopper tickets, your Lightning Lane Multi Pass joins you on your journey between parks, allowing you to make selections in the park you hop to—just be sure any return time you select for that second park is no earlier than the official park hopping hours begin!
Lastly, Claire, I’d recommend booking some of the resort’s most popular attractions—like
Space Mountain and
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!—earlier in the day since Lightning Lane selections for fan-favorite attractions tend to fill up quickly.
I hope this helps you and your friend get ready for an incredible day dashing between adventures at the Happiest Place on Earth! If any more questions pop up, feel free to ask—we're all ears!
