Hi, My child has muscular dystrophy, when we arrive and contact guest relations to review what assistance can be provided, what documentation of proof of his condition will we need to have with us? Thanks Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to planDisney, and thanks for bringing us your question. We have MD in our family, so I was especially delighted to hear about your upcoming plans to Walt Disney World. Some of my treasured childhood memories are the shrieks of delight from my absolutely fearless cousin seeking out the greatest thrills! I hope you experience so many squeals of pure joy on your magical adventure.

Walt Disney World offers Disability Access Service (DAS) to Guests, which helps with ride queues. You will only need to speak with Guest Relations once to register for DAS for your entire trip. It's a quick process with very helpful Cast Members. You will not need to provide supporting documentation, but your son should be present for the interview as the DAS holder. During this registration, please let the Cast Member know which other Guests are in your party, as up to five other Guests can be included in each return time selection.

More information is available online about Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities, including those staying at Disney Resort hotels. If you have any specific questions or requirements ahead of your adventure, you can contact the disability services team by email at In my experience, Disney Cast Members work tirelessly to ensure all Guests have an unforgettable experience. You can also find accessibility specifications for each ride on the My Disney Experience app. Whether your son and family are the ultimate thrill seekers or not, the outstanding care taken by the Imagineers at Walt Disney World means simply being in the Parks will be like nothing you've experienced before. Try Pandora - World of Avatar after dark, for example - it's otherworldly!

Mark, I'm sending all my best wishes to you and your family for a truly magical trip! Don't forget that the 14-Day Magic Ticket includes Memory Maker - I highly recommend using all the photo opportunities available. You can spot professional Disney photographers by their unique green shirts. We love looking back at our memories time and time again! Have the best adventure, Louise.
