Hello, Natasja, or kaltxì, as the Na'vi say in Pandora! Thank you so much for sending in your question to planDisney. The moment you first see the floating mountains in the
Valley of Mo'ara located in Pandora – The World of Avatar, you will be blown away; the beauty of this land in
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is quite mesmerizing and magical. If you experience this land at night, you will get to see it lit up with colorful bioluminescence. It also boasts one of the best attractions in all of Walt Disney World!
Avatar Flight of Passage allows you to soar through the mountains and the sea on the back of a banshee! One of the things that makes this ride so realistic is that you can feel the banshee breathing under you. The area on the ride vehicle where your knees slide in goes in and out to simulate the banshee's lungs! However, these padded leg restraints can give big and tall guests some issues. I've had a friend who is 6'3" tall (190.5 cm) ride with no problems, but I have heard reports of guests taller than that having trouble getting their knees to fit. I witnessed a Cast Member helping a gentleman once, and her advice was to be on your tiptoes or bring your knees up as much as possible while they are locking in your legs. She also recommended that he slip off his shoes, which seemed to help.
Purchasing an
Individual Lightning Lane for this popular attraction will save you time waiting in line; however, I understand your concerns because Individual Lightning Lane selection purchases are final. You cannot cancel, modify, or rebook. If your boyfriend cannot ride, I suggest speaking with a
Guest Experience Team member (find them near the blue umbrellas in the parks) or visit Guest Relations. While I cannot guarantee that you will get a refund, they will be able to help remedy your situation or give some advice.
You'll surely work up an appetite after your flight!
Satu'li Canteen has delicious quick-service food, and my favorite is the Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl. Save some room for the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse, which I get every time I visit!
I hope this helps, Natasja. And my last piece of advice is, "Sivako!" It's the Na'vi word for "Rise to the Challenge!
