    Hi,looking to stay@akl July. Kids2,7,15,16. Any room preference and any info on resort? Also how would we get to Mickeys backyard bbq from akl and how much time for travel to allow for? Thanks

    Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Christine!

    My family just wrapped up a stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and WOW! I was blown away with this resort. I’m so excited you’ll get to experience it on your next visit with your family! 
    I highly recommend booking a room that has savannah view. It is the coolest thing to wake up and peek out the window and see giraffes and zebras meandering around. You feel like you are on the other side of the globe. It’s pure Disney magic! I also recommend requesting the Sunset Savannah view. During our stay, I noticed the animals on that Savannah were out more often.

    Be sure to explore the resort and all the activities it offers. My kids really enjoyed the educational String of Memories bead activity, a complimentary activity that is unique to this resort. You earn beads by participating in fun educational activities where you learn more about the diversity of African culture and wildlife conservation. It’s really fun!

    To travel to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, the GPS tool on My Disney Experience App is showing a travel time of 76 minutes. But I suggest giving yourself 90-minutes, just to be safe . The best way to get there would be to take a bus from the resort to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, since it’s closest, and from there take the bus to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.
