Hi I’ve been having issues with my right hip & knee, so I will be needing a walking stick. I also will have difficulty standing for a long time. My party consists of 6 adults and 11 month baby as we are celebrating birthdays. What can you do?

Hi there, Sonia! Welcome to planDisney. The Happiest Place on Earth is a wonderful place for celebrations of all kinds. Friends and family coming together in the magic will make for lasting memories that you won't soon forget!

The Disneyland Resort is a place for all Guests to feel welcome and has a special way of ensuring that the magic is accessible to all. I'm happy to walk you through some options for those visiting with mobility issues. If you get to the parks and find that the walking and waiting is impacting your ability to enjoy your time, wheelchairs and ECVs are available for rent just outside parks to the east of the Disneyland Park Main Entrance. These are first come, first serve and they open about an hour ahead of scheduled park hours

When it comes to boarding attractions, you can find the accessibility information on the website or right at your fingertips within the Disneyland Mobile App. Some allow for Guests to remain in their wheelchair or ECV, some require you to transfer from an ECV to a wheelchair, others will require a transfer from the wheelchair/ECV to the ride vehicle, and a few that do require Guests to be ambulatory. When considering whether or not to enjoy an attraction, you can easily search for it within the app by tapping the magnifying glass icon along the bottom navigation bar. Once you tap into the attraction and scroll down a bit, you will see a drop-down menu for "Accessibility & Other Information" which will tell you how you will need to board the attraction. You can also always as the Cast Member out front!

Additional services include Disability Parking along with reserved viewing areas for those in wheelchairs for shows like the Tale of the Lion King and nighttime spectaculars like World of Color, Fantasmic!, and the nightly projection or firework show above Sleeping Beauty Castle. When in doubt, find a Cast Member and they will be happy to assist you! If you have any additional questions ahead of your visit, feel free to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547.

Another option to reduce those wait times would be to add Disney Genie+ to your theme park tickets. Genie+ allows you access to 19 Lightning Lanes across both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. When you arrive and scan through the gates in the morning, you can select your first Lightning Lane and you will be given a one-hour return window. Once your return window opens and you tap into the experience, you can make your next selection. I have to say, using Genie+ at Disneyland makes for a very seamless magic carpet ride through your day!

Sonia, the magic awaits! Be sure to stop by a merchandise location or City Hall just as you arrive at Disneyland Park to pick up some complimentary "I'm Celebrating" buttons. Not only will your party be sent well wishes throughout the day, but you never know what pixie dust might find you!

    Never stop dreaming,
    Tara
