Ahoy, Eldad! Thanks for sailing by planDisney ahead of your cruise later this year.
As someone who used to live equidistant between Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, I’ve traveled those roads frequently. I love that there are now two Florida ports to choose from when planning my next Disney Cruise vacation. However, I spoke with a Cast Member to confirm that unfortunately, there still is not an official transportation option offered to take you from Walt Disney World Resort to
Port Everglades for your cruise departure.
While you could rent a car and make the drive yourself, it takes about three hours. I’ve found the most convenient option is to take a quick flight from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), where Port Everglades is just a short ride away. Fortunately, you can now purchase airport transfers for sailings in 2025 for both your embarkation and debarkation days.
After
chatting with the Disney Cruise Line Representative, I also learned something new: you can book an overnight stay at select resorts in Fort Lauderdale through Disney Cruise Line if you want to fly in the night before your embarkation, and then also
book a “resort to port” transfer. This gives you the peace of mind of knowing you’re arriving in plenty of time before your departure. Plus, some of my favorite restaurants are located not far from the airport in Fort Lauderdale! (Don’t miss the miso soup and sushi from Phat Boy).
Speaking of favorite foods, consider booking a
brunch at Palo if you want a real treat at this adult-exclusive restaurant.
There are obviously quite a few travel options for you to consider. If you have any other thoughts or questions, don’t hesitate to come back and visit us at
planDisney. (I’ll just be here dreaming of all the fabulous dishes you’ll be dining on during your Disney vacation!)
Here’s to sweet Disney dreams,
Sami
