Hi, I'm planning disney trip for this August. We purchased our dining plan, but as I am researching I realized the kids menu is very limited. My son is 9 and likes a variety of food. Can I pay the difference if he wants an adult meal at a restaurant?

    Hi Tina,

My youngest 3 are close together in age and on every Disney trip for the past 4 years, one of them has been 9 years old and wanting the adult menu sometimes.  At many of the restaurants, you can request a "kid-sized portion" of an adult item on the menu. This generally doesn't work with steak or items like that, but if there is a pasta dish that he likes, they will often do this for you. Your best bet is to speak with your server as soon as you sit down to see what the options are in each restaurant (they vary). We have found that our absolute best option is to dine in the buffet restaurants. When you do that, your son can have anything that you can have. As a bonus, it is "all-you-care-to-eat" so he can definitely get his fill. Other restaurants that work well are the one's that serve "family-style" meals like 'Ohana and Liberty Tree Tavern. They keep bringing refills of as much as you want to eat and everyone eats the same items.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further and have a wonderful vacation,
