Hi I’m going to Epcot on Dec. 31, 2023 to ring in the new year. How can I find out about any extra events I might want to pay for? How can I make dinner reservations around the lake?

Hey there Dolores and welcome to planDisney. I love the fireworks at EPCOT on New Year's Eve. We have been there a couple of times when the clock struck midnight. Fortunately, nothing turned into a pumpkin. They are incredible and if they are the same this year as years before, there is something special from each country around the World Showcase in the order that those countries rang in the New Year.

All the details for this New Year's Eve have not been released so keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for that information. You will be able to find out about special dining and other paid experiences within the next few weeks. However, here are things to keep in mind.

    1. Make your theme park reservations as soon as possible. EPCOT is very, very busy on New Year's Eve so get your reservation and be at the parks early. The lines for food tend to be enormous due to the crowds celebrating.
    2. Make your dining reservations 60 days in advance. Guests who are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel will be able to book reservations for their entire trip (up to 10 days) beginning 60 days from their check-in date. This means that Guests checking in on December 22, 2023, could make reservations for New Year's Day on October 23, 2022. Other Guests will be able to book For December 31, 2023, on November 1, 2023.
    3. Fireworks occur twice on New Year's Eve. Around 6:30 PM and 11:40 PM.
planDisney Pro Tip: The crowds are really large at both Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT. If you are taking Disney Resort Transportation you may be in a long line to get back to your Resort hotel. Consider staying at one of the EPCOT Area Disney Resort hotels so you can walk back to your room.

Dolores, I am so glad you stopped by. New Year's Eve is such a blast at EPCOT. It will be unlike anything you have ever experienced at Walt Disney World Resort. Please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
