Ahoy, Sophia!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As a mom of a child with special needs, I absolutely understand the importance of planning ahead in order to make every experience outside of my son's routine smooth sailing and comfortable for him. Vacations are no exception and often take even more planning and consideration! I'm so glad you stopped by to ask our advice on how to make your time in the port terminal go smoothly for your son.
This question is a perfect one for
Disney Cruise Line's Special Services Team! I suggest giving them a call at (407) 566-3602 to discuss your particular situation concerning your son's sensory challenges. In addition to a possible earlier Port Arrival Time, they may be able to offer other suggestions or accommodations!
In my opinion, embarkation day is more hectic than any other day of the cruise. Families are boarding and exploring the ship, eating lunch, going to the Guest Assembly Drill and waiting for their staterooms to be ready. If our son seems like he's getting overwhelmed by the day, we'll head to our stateroom around 1:30 (once it's ready) and have a little downtime before the Guest Assembly Drill.
Sophia, I've enjoyed speaking with every team member from Special Services each time I've needed to call regarding accommodations for my son. I have no doubt that your phone conversation will be just as enjoyable and helpful!
