Hi-I am a single mom with an only child who loves roller coasters and thrill rides. I don’t like them and won’t go on them. Is there anyone I could hire to help go on the scarier rides with my child. The easy ones I can go on. Thank You!

Hi there, Lorraine! Welcome back to planDisney! I'm so happy that you've chosen to trust us to help with your best vacation planning questions! You must be so excited to bring your child to Walt Disney World Resort for a little one-on-one time with you. That definitely puts you in the running for Mom of the Year! Let's chat about a couple of ideas I have that might work well for you, so that you don't have to endure the thrill rides that your child wants to experience.

Lorraine, did you know that for many attractions at Walt Disney World Resort, you can ask a Cast Member at the entrance if you can accompany your child to the ride, and bypass the ride itself? As long as your child is over seven years old, they should be able to ride without you. This option varies from one attraction to another, but it's definitely worth asking at the entrance if it's a possibility. This would allow you to wait in the queue with your child, and when it's time for them to board the ride, you step aside and exit, and meet up after they're finished riding. That way, you're only separated for a few minutes, and you get to spend quality time together in the thoughtfully-designed queues. My friend and fellow planDisney panelist, Doug, wrote a super helpful explanation of how this worked for his family here

Lorraine, many people consider a Private Disney VIP Tour because it offers unparalleled services and perks, like having someone to ride alongside your child when you're unable to do so. This amazing experience allows you Lightning Lane access to your favorite attractions, so you'll be spending minimal time in a queue. Not only that, but you'll have an incredibly knowledgeable Cast Member alongside you to guide you and give you all the details and insights you can dream of, especially about the new attractions and additions at the Disney Theme Parks!

If you're planning to spend some time in a queue, don't forget to download the Play Disney Parks app, so that you can turn your waiting time into game time! It's a fun way to feel really immersed into the queue and overall attraction experience.

Lorraine, I hope you're able to find a perfect solution for you and your child to enjoy your upcoming visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Please come back to planDisney with any other vacation planning questions you have as you prepare for your trip back home to Walt Disney World Resort!

    See you real soon!
