Hey there, hi there, Lori,
"You're as welcome as can be!" Thank you for running into us here at planDisney.
Earlier this year, I cheered on runners during Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, including my planDisney pal Andrew. It was exhilarating to watch the athletes stream by, and the appreciative energy they returned to me was gratifying. It was a thrilling, albeit early morning at The Happiest Place on Earth!
A few weeks before your race, you should receive an Official Digital Expo & Event Guide. That guide will contain information about the race course. I recommend checking the guide for the latest details about times and transportation options, as procedures may change heading into the next race at the Disneyland Resort. That said, I'll share my experience with attending the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend as a reference for what you might expect. On Saturday and Sunday of the race weekend, a Disneyland Resort Hotels shuttle continuously ran from 3:15 AM to 10:30 AM. The shuttle stopped at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and the east shuttle area, which was located between the theme parks, near Harbor Boulevard. Registered Guests of the Disneyland Resort Hotels with a Disneyland Resort Hotel room key could board the bus marked, "runDisney Athletes & Spectators" at any of the designated stops.
If you have non-running members of your party who wish to cheer you on, my planDisney pal Adriana suggests that they choose to greet you in the esplanade between the main entrances of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. They'll need to be there very early, basically about the same time the race starts, as you and the other runners will be passing through there near the beginning of the course. Check the race course information in the digital guide for updated details on the course. During the recent Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, I stood on the corner of Disneyland Drive across the street from Pixar Place Hotel. For the half marathon course, this location was where runners exited Disney California Adventure Park before the remainder of the race which would be run only on city streets. I even met some spectators who started cheering near the race starting line, then moved over to this location to continue to encourage their loved ones as the race progressed.
Good luck with your race, Lori. May every mile be magical and may you enjoy a spooktacular time at this unique Halloween-themed runDisney event.
