HI. I have a new mobility scooter; The width is 30" inches x 57" inches long. I have no problems transferring onto rides with the use of my cane. I allowed to use my scooter in the parks and the on Tramway to travel to each park?

    Hiya Robert,

Welcome to planDisney! Can you believe that you will be soaking in the magic of Walt Disney World Resort in just a few short days? I’m also in the final countdown for an upcoming trip and cannot wait to get to the Most Magical Place on Earth. I’ve been checking the Disney Parks Blog and foodie guides so much these last few days, so I don’t miss out on any of the yummy new treats in the parks.

First, great question about your new mobility scooter, Robert! One of the reasons that I love visiting Walt Disney World as much as I do is that the Guest experience is so important to everyone who works there. I’m always so impressed by the care that goes into ensuring everyone has the most magical experience at the parks. Thank you for providing the dimensions of your new scooter; that is super helpful! I looked at the park rules, and mobility devices must not exceed 36” in width by 52” in length. From your information, it seems like your new scooter may be a little longer than that. I would recommend double-checking your measurements one more time to be sure, but if your scooter is really 57” long, you would be unable to use it within the theme parks, water parks, or the monorail (or any other Disney transportation). My best recommendation would be to look into renting an ECV or Wheelchair for your visit to make sure that it fits within the guidelines. You can rent one at each theme park, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Springs for a daily fee. If you would rather have a mobility scooter for the entire length of your stay (without having to return it each day) and your stay at one of Walt Disney World Resort hotels, you can also rent one from ScooterBug!

I hope this was helpful, Robert. Before I let you go, you seem like a Mouseketeer who likes to plan. If you haven’t already checked out the accessibility planning guide and recommendations, I highly recommend doing so. The guide can help you prepare for which attractions require you to transfer from an ECV to your cane and which ones you don’t have to transfer for at all. It can also help you navigate all the resources available to make your stay the most magical. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.

    Happy Planning,
