Ahoy Sara!
Thanks for sailing by with this great question. I prefer gifting experiences over items and I think gifting some spending money for your
Disney Cruise Line vacation is the perfect idea! My family often sails just after the busy holiday season and my kids love having their own Disney Gift Cards along for the voyage.
Disney Gift Cards can be used at merchandise locations all over the ship, so if your children have their eye on a special pin, shirt, or other item this would be a great way to give them some autonomy while they shop. Plus, it's always fun to have a little something to open waiting under the tree or tucked into a stocking on Christmas morning. If you have adult-aged children who might want to stretch their gift to include alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees,
Port Adventures, or even
spa services during the cruise an Onboard Credit would be another great option. Guests will need to present their Key to the World Card or
DisneyBand+ (on eligible sailings) to complete these types of purchases, but you
can place a credit on their Stateroom Folio and their onboard purchases will apply against it. You can do this in person at the start of your voyage by visiting the Guest Services Desk or in advance of your sailing via the
Amenities page of your reservation or by calling (800) 951-3532.
One of my favorite daily indulgences on any Disney Cruise Line vacation is a Salted Caramel Coconut Latte from
Cove Café. Even if your kids aren't old enough for a morning dose of caffeine you might want to consider picking one up for yourself. It's a perfect treat to enjoy on your stateroom verandah at the start of a magical day. Be sure to pick up a loyalty/rewards card if you plan to make that a daily splurge.
I hope this helps Sara! If we can offer any other personalized recommendations please don't hesitate to come back and let us know.
Wishing you a magical sailing,
Amy
