Hi,hope you are well. Can I use my phone and magic band to open my resort room door or is it phone or magic band. Hope this makes sense.

A warm welcome to planDisney, Tim!

I am so happy to answer your great question today. Just last week, I stayed in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel and had first-hand experience with using my cell phone to open my Resort hotel room door. I am thrilled to be able to share my experience with you.

Tim, you can use your cell phone and MagicBand interchangeably to open your Disney Resorts Collection hotel door. I did this multiple times myself. I was excited to use the My Disney Experience app to open my door when my family first arrived, so I used the “Unlock My Door” service the first time we entered our room. The next day, I wore my MagicBand to visit the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and then used it to enter my room later in the day. I had no issues using cell phones and MagicBands interchangeably. You will not need to choose one or the other.

I hope this helps answer your question, Tim. I encourage you to verify that your My Disney Experience mobile app is updated to the most recent version before your visit to avoid any delays.

If you have any other questions, please visit planDisney again. We are always hEAR to help you!
