Hi Going to Disney in Nov,16-21 looking for a fun countdown idea for my 6 year old daughter. Thanks

    Hello Michele,

Counting down to the magic is one of my kids' favorite things to do. In fact, in anticipation for each trip, we make a countdown paper chain. Depending on far out you want to begin the trip, the chain will be as short or as long as the days left. We have done it using strips of Disney themed paper from the local scrapbooking stores or even used red, black and yellow colored strips to represent the classic Mickey Mouse colors. Make a loop for each day and tear one off for each day. My children get extra excited when it dwindles down to the last few. It is a great visual for them to comprehend how few or how many days are left without looking at a calendar.

Another idea for a shorter countdown would be to purchase some little travel items such as a cute neck travel pillow, activities for the plane or car, autograph book, pins for pin trading once you get there (these can be found on disneystore.com), and maybe even a new stuffed Disney character. Wrap each one up to be opened on a different day leading up to the trip. For example, if you buy 7 items, the countdown could begin a week out. You could even begin the countdown with a new travel bag of her own (if budget allows). Each day, she can open something new to add to the bag!

I hope this helps in your quest for a fun and interactive way to involve your daughter in the pixie dusted planning process!
