How high is Mount Everest coaster and does if feel that you are hanging off a mountain? I like Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain but I will not ride Rockin Roller Coaster. I'm not sure about this one.

    Namaste Vicki!

Now is your time to join trekkers, travelers and visitors to the Forbidden Mountain, yet beware not to anger the legendary Yeti.

Like you, I love, love, love Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain. I ride those attractions as much as I can on every Magic Kingdom visit. (In fact, the only attraction I love more than Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom is Space Mountain at Disneyland Park, but that's another story for another adventure.)

Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom is also a favorite must-do attraction for me. It's an absolutely thrilling adventure. You experience so many sensations — the steam of the train carrying you up the mountain, the cool mountain air, the surprise and shock when you see your rail torn up angrily before you, the lurching and leaning forward and backward as you speed through the mountain pass. It's all enough to make your inner sherpa smile!

Now let's sip something soothing from the Royal Anandapur Tea Company as we plan our mountain ascent. While Expedition Everest caps at 199 feet, making it the tallest mountain in Walt Disney World, the "big drop" itself is a mere 80 feet down the mountain base. To help you visualize by comparison, the "big drop" splashdown at Splash Mountain is about 50 feet. What's another 30 feet or so among friends? Would I describe it as feeling like you're hanging off a mountain? No. Does it tour you upside down like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster? No. Is it an adventure worth taking? Yes!

Now embark on your expedition. The best is Yeti to come!

    Enjoy your Disney!

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
