Hi, Do we need passports to take a cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida to Disney Castaway Cay & Nassau, The Bahamas? Thanks!

    Ahoy Betty!

Sounds like you are getting all shipshape for your Disney cruise to the Bahamas! Are you ready to experience Disney's private island, Castaway Cay? I can imagine you are nodding your head in agreement right now. This little island paradise is calling and you MUST go!

It’s always a fine idea to make sure you have the right travel documentation for your sailing. All that you and your family will need for a cruise to the Bahamas are an original or copy of a state-issued birth certificate AND  government-issued photo ID (like a driver's license) for those 16 and up. No passport is necessary for this itinerary (although you can bring one if you prefer). Betty, my guess is that you probably have everything you need to sail to the Bahamas, and Captain Mickey and his crew will take care of the rest!

Even so, I always recommend checking the Passport and Travel Documentation link on Disney Cruise Line's website for the most current information on what the travel requirements are. That’s the last word when it comes to the rules for traveling, so I defer to what is said there as Disney Cruise Line will be sure to keep it updated.

What is also needed for your cruise is the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It’s an incredible resource for finding showtimes, dinner menus, activities, character greetings, and MINNIE more! I also love the countdown feature to see how many days before we set sail. I’d say we all could use a countdown calendar right now!

With your travel documents and the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app in hand, you'll be hitting the high seas to the Bahamas in no time. Betty, if you need any extra planning tips, don't hesitate to contact us again at planDisney!

    SEA ya real soon!
