Hi, Do the Disney Character Warehouse stores carry Magic Bands? We will be flying to CA to take our grandkids to Disneyland, but are hoping that we can purchase Magic Bands, and be able to set them up, beforehand. Also, do the bands come in sizes?

    Hello there, Lisa!

Welcome to planDisney! I'm excited about your question because it involves two of my favorite things: shopping and technology!

Disney MagicBand+ is an awesome way to feel like you're part of the magic inside the theme parks. My kids love using their bands to "tap in" at the front gate and Lightning Lane queues, but they also think it's super fun to see how their bands interact with rides and shows! The inventory at Disney's Character Warehouse locations is changing all the time, so I don't know if they will have MagicBand+ available when you visit, but I think it's worth a try! Besides, you most likely find some other fun things for your grandkids while you're shopping there anyway. You could also purchase bands on the shopDisney website...they're sometimes included in discount promotions, and Black Friday deals are coming up soon!

MagicBand+ only comes in one size, but a portion of the band can be torn away (this is a permanent alteration) to make the band more comfortable for a smaller wrist. My kids have comfortably worn the bands (they're ages 8 and 11) and many of my friends have younger Mouseketeers who also wear them comfortably.

There isn't too much setup for MagicBand+ but you will want to make sure you've downloaded the Disneyland Mobile App and that you have a good internet connection the first time that you pair your bands. Your band will likely need to download a software update, but that usually only takes a few minutes. Each band will need to be assigned to a park ticket, then you'll be ready to go! Don't forget to keep the charging cords that come with your bands, they're very unique (and sometimes hard to spot in the package) and you'll need them to recharge your bands.

Lisa, you sound like a truly magical grandma! I'm wishing you and your grandkids a magical visit to the Disneyland Resort!

    Keep moving forward!
