Hi, Any suggestions on how to save on accommodations for a family of 5 (parents with kids ages 12,9 and 5)? We are on a very tight budget. My parents are also thinking of joining us for some of the trip. Thanks

    Hi, Michelle!

    Great question!

First, take a look at these Walt Disney World Special Offers to see if any discounted dates of stay would work for your family. Next, consider booking a stay in a family suite at Disney's All-Star Music Resort or, for a little more, a family suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Remember, too, that rates vary seasonally, so consider booking your visit during a non-peak time of year as well. If your parents will join you for a portion of the trip, you could book a standard room at the same resort and have the two reservations linked together; this will enable Cast Members at the front desk to see that your parties are traveling together, keeping those rooms close to each other if at all possible.

Don't forget to add in the money you can save on your dining expenses when you book a stay in a family suite, Michelle. With a mini-kitchen, breakfast is a breeze right in your room, and you can even enjoy some late afternoon or evening snacks to hold you over until the next meal. Stock your mini-fridge with milk and juice boxes, butter, jelly, cream cheese, blocks of cheddar and fruit (all available in the resort store); pack a box of crackers, cereal, peanut butter, donuts, bagels, bread, shelf-stable pepperoni, microwavable popcorn and other snacks and you can enjoy a light breakfast, lunch or snack in your room each day, too. Reducing your dining out costs may help stretch those dollars toward your resort costs instead.

Send more questions as you think of them, Michelle! We love to help!
