Hi Paula! Welcome to planDisney!
How exciting! Ringing in the new year at the
Walt Disney World Resort sounds like a dream come true. I was able to visit during this time frame a few years ago, and getting the chance to stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. on the first day of the year was a fun experience. Let's jump right into your question and help you get set for a magical stay!
Paula, if you purchased date-based tickets, theme park reservations are no longer required for this ticket type. You'll simply show up at the park you want to visit each day that you have a valid ticket for. There are no special tickets required on New Year's Eve to visit any of the four theme parks. Your regular park ticket will be more than enough. One thing to keep in mind is that Guests may be turned away for entry if the park has reached capacity. This does not happen often, although it has occurred on very busy days, including some years on New Year's Eve. Your best bet will be to arrive early and stay in the park throughout the day. If you leave for a mid-day break, you will be subject to capacity rules upon re-entry.
Make sure to download the
My Disney Experience App to your mobile device. Not only will it come in handy for many uses throughout your stay, but you may also receive notifications for important information. This may even include when a park reaches capacity to give you a heads up before heading that way.
I hope this information helps you plan for your stay! While you will be arriving the day after Christmas, you'll still have the chance to enjoy all the
festive decor around the parks and resorts. They typically stay decorated through New Year's Eve.
See ya real soon!
