Hey, We’re getting married in Orlando (not with fairy tale weddings) - we’re staying in a Disney hotel for the duration of our trip. Are we allowed to take pictures in our wedding dress/suit around the Disney resorts or is this against policy?

Hi there Hetal, I'm happy to wish you a warm wedding welcome to planDisney!

There are a lot of reasons why couples might not necessarily get married at Walt Disney World Resort (like their families wanting their ceremony to take place at a place of worship, for example) and still choose to stay at a Disney Resort Hotel for their wedding week! As a Disney Groom myself who had a Disney Wedding here last year, I personally spent several years doing extensive research while also looking at all the options available to us during the planning process and am happy to lend some answers and advice ahead of the big day:

    • According to management at one of the Deluxe Resort Hotels, while those staying at their accommodations may be able to take photos with their own phones/devices/cameras as guests, it's always best to ask the management directly in advance before taking any photos so that they can advise and suggest where you may be permitted to do so in your dress or suit. When it comes to hiring someone to take your pictures, Cast Members have been observed to actively report any unauthorized professional wedding photography taking place and they let me know that you'll be required to present documentation proving that you have permission when approached. Policies are always subject to change without prior notice and may be at the discretion of management when you speak with them, but it's definitely always best to confirm and be safe to avoid any risk of this ruining these special moments being captured.
I hope that this helps, Hetal - I personally recommend checking out online resources like the Ever After Blog and the Disney Wedding Podcast so that you cab both gain some inspiration from the experiences of fellow couples and don't hesitate to come back for any other tips as you look forward to tying the knot in Orlando next year.

Here's hoping you can capture all of the memories of your Happily Ever After!
