Hey! So I wanted to buy Florida resident tickets for my out of state sister for Christmas so we can all go to the parks. Are we allowed to buy Florida resident tickets for them if I’m with them to pick them up?

    Hi Joshua,

Welcome to planDisney! I'm always excited to help a fellow Floridian plan a wonderful family Walt Disney World vacation.

Disney offers so many great discounts and specials for those of us who live in Florida, so it is natural to want to share our good fortune with our family members who don't live in our state. However, each adult taking advantage of a Florida resident ticket offer must show appropriate ID to activate the tickets. That means you wouldn't be able to get a Florida ticket for your sister if she is over 18.

If you are planning a Walt Disney World resort stay, though, you can take advantage of any Florida resident resort specials for your entire family as long as you make the reservations and stay as well. I'm not sure how big your family is, but you might want to consider one of the resorts with larger accommodations so that it truly is a family gathering.

I'm a big fan of the laid-back charm of Old Key West and the African-themed beauty of Animal Kingdom Lodge- Kidani Village. Both offer villas up to three bedrooms.

Thanks for your question, Joshua. Please let us know if we can help in any other way as you make your holiday plans with your family. Enjoy!
