Thanks for swinging by the Disney Parks Moms Panel today with your questing, Misty!
Disney's Animal Kingdom is my favorite theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. I love the beautiful plants and animals, the celebration of cultures from all around the world, and of course, the incredible food. When I spend a day there, I really am reminded that magic is all around us! It's an awesome theme park, but it's also a fully-accredited zoo that participates in conservation and education initiatives in partnership with other institutions and organizations around the world so we can all get to know our friends in the wild a little bit better.
While there are
more than 250 species represented at Disney's Animal Kingdom, I'm sorry to tell you that the two-toed sloths that used to live in
The Oasis Exhibits are no longer there. When I was lucky enough to do the
Up Close With Rhinos tour recently, the Cast Members from
Disney's Animal Care Team told us that there are a lot of reasons why an animal might move on somewhere else. There are breeding, conservation, and educational programs that bring animals in and out from all around the world so they can get medical treatment, become part of a mating pair, or even just get comfortable in a new habitat! The sloths may have moved on to a new home, but there are hundreds of species and more than a thousand animals living at Disney's Animal Kingdom, so be sure to check them out on
Kilimanjaro Safaris,
Discovery Island Trails,
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, and
Maharajah Jungle Trek, where I once saw a
Sumatran tiger curled up asleep right in front of the glass!
Have a magical day, Misty!
