Hey moms! Single mom taking two kids b8 & g6 next summer. Can't decide between AOA or Port of Orleans royal guest room. Advice on travel time, easy access, crowds, pros and cons, etc. Thanks for your help in advance!!

    Hi Robin:

You have narrowed your selections to my favourite value and moderate resorts, what a tough decision!   Both resorts are rather large, and I believe they are both wonderfully themed.  The crowds typically reflect both of the resorts larger size, however I have never felt crowded at either resort.  Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside has beautiful buildings, the landscaping and the river is absolutely breathtaking.  Along with a laid back atmosphere, I find that Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside offers guests a little more luxury in terms of resort finishes and amenities, especially in the Royal Guest Rooms.  My daughter absolutely loves watching the "fireworks" on the headboards.  There are plenty of dining options including Table Service and Quick Service options.  I have found it takes some time to get to the theme parks as the resort is so large, the bus makes several stops before heading out to the theme parks.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort immerses guests in some of Disney's classic Animated Features with an upbeat, fun environment.  The resort standard rooms feel a little smaller, and they are not as luxurious as the resort rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside.  However, I love that there is only one bus stop making it easy to get back and forth to the theme parks.  The food court Landscape of Flavors has so much selection as well as real cutlery (as opposed to plastic)!  The pool at Disney's Art of Animation Resort is my favourite pool on Disney Property.  The Big Blue Pool makes guests feel like they are swimming with Nemo and friends, with amazing water features, underwater music and super cute statues.

No matter which resort you choose, I am sure you are going to have a great time.  Looking at my list, I would suggest you discuss with your family which resort would be a better fit.
