Hi Valerie!
Welcome to planDisney! I must say that there’s no better start to the new year than a trip to Walt Disney World! Your January vacation will be here before you know it, and we are more than happy to share all our pointers about the Most Magical Place on Earth.
At this time,
Guests may visit one park per day, and that will likely be the case in January. For that reason, I would suggest asking about options for modifying your park tickets since you likely will not be able to use the park hopper feature. If your tickets include the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option and you purchased a Resort Package, you can request ticket modification by contacting the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or your travel agent.
Let me assure you that there’s still plenty to see and do at each individual theme park to fill the day! So much so that I totally get why you are strategizing which parks to visit a second time. Here’s my suggestion: I would poll everyone in your party and see what they want to experience the most and focus on those parks for the two extra days you have on your tickets. This may result in the typical response that I get with my family…"I don’t know.” But if they have opinions, it’s best to let them have a vote.
My advice is that you may want to consider an extra day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in case you are unable to experience
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance on your first day at that park. The
virtual queue for this popular attraction fills up fast, so having a second day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be a must for Star Wars fans and better the odds that you get to save the galaxy at least once if not twice during your vacation!
For your second extra park day, my preference would be to choose either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. (No disrespect to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but it always seems like a park that is very accessible and we are able to see everything in a single day.) The logic for selecting EPCOT is being able to dine at one of the restaurants in World Showcase to cap off the evening. Plus, the
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts may be starting around that time. Then again, my sentimental favorite park is Magic Kingdom, so I always welcome as much time as I can get soaking up the atmosphere along Main Street U.S.A., the whimsy of Fantasyland, and the celebration of the past (Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square) and future (Tomorrowland)!
Since Guests need to make a Disney Park Pass reservation for the specific days they want to visit a park, my final tip is to go ahead and decide which park you want to do for each of the six days you have tickets. The
Disney Park Pass system even has an
availability calendar which will show what parks are available on specific dates.
As you continue to finalize your vacation plans, hop back over to planDisney with any additional questions. We love to talk about all things Disney. Wishing you a vacation jam-packed with tons of theme park fun!
