Ahoy Stephen –
Thanks for sailing in for a visit with us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am happy to try and help you with the age limits for the Youth Clubs on
Disney Cruise Line. During Open House Hours, there are no restrictions in age groups as long as there is a supervising parent nearby for younger sailors. During secure programing, there are specific rules that Youth Counselors follow.
The age limits are very strict when it comes to an older child moving to a lower age group or a toddler younger than 3 moving to the
Oceaneer Club – this is never allowed. For instance, a potty-trained 2-year old cannot go to the Oceaneer Club, and likewise a 4-year old who is not toilet trained cannot go back to the Nursery. Also, teenagers are not allowed to check back into the Oceaneer Club.
In certain cases, children who are about to move up the next age group are allowed to do so as long as there is parental consent and the desire from the child to do so. For example, a 10-year old can move up to
Edge (the club for tweens ages 11-14) to be with his 11-year old cousin with written consent from parents. Parents are made to understand that tweens in Edge can come and go at will and they will be there with young teens as well. In the same way, if a 13-year old sister wants to be with her 15-year old sister in
Vibe (the club for teens ages 14-17), this would be allowed with parental consent.
I hope this helps to clear up any confusion, but if you have more questions, please come back for another chat with us.
