Hey there! Love the panel. We just booked our 2012 trip and we are taking advantage of the free dining plan staying August 22nd to 29th at POR. I'm wondering if crowds are generally down that week since most American kids are back to school. Scott

    Hi Scott!

Compared to the rest of the summer, the crowds will be a lot smaller that week in August; you are right, a lot of American children will already be back in school or they will be getting ready to return to school.  The expected crowds are about the same during that week as in September, a well known "slow" season for Walt  Disney World.  It will also be hot and humid then so keep that in mind.  In my opinion, it doesn't really cool off until October and sometimes not until November!

By the way, I think you made a great choice with Port Orleans Riverside.  It's my favorite Disney Moderate Resort.  Be sure to save one night to make the boat trip from there to Downtown Disney.  I think it's a fun trip at night!

I hope this helps!  Write back with more questions.
