Hey Kirsten! We are DVC members, and we have been going to Disney World every year forever! This year I would like to do something different, but money is a little tight. Any recommendations for different things...that are on the low cost scale? Thanks!

    Hi Shannon!

I love discovering new and exciting things to enjoy with my family at Walt Disney World. Making the experience unique each time is what keeps it fun!

To start, consider a stay at Disney's BoardWalk or Old Key West Resorts. Your DVC points may stretch a little further at these properties, allowing you perhaps a longer stay, or a larger accommodation.

Adding to the appeal, these two resorts are both located conveniently close to all kinds of free entertainment options! The BoardWalk area, all on its own, is a fabulous place to spend the day or the evening. With street magicians, shops, treats ... and just a beautiful atmosphere unlike anywhere else at Walt Disney World, it's the perfect way to fill your evening with fun, inexpensively! From Old Key West, you can jump on a boat to Downtown Disney - also bustling with nightlife. Stroll along the water's edge as you enjoy musicians, dancers, watching candy being made in the windows of Candy Cauldron ... you just never know what great entertainment will be in store for you on any given day or night!

Other extras I enjoy with my family that are relatively inexpensive include Miniature Golf at Winter Summerland or Fantasia Gardens, a visit to the new Splitsville at Downtown Disney, the Family Magic Tour at Magic Kingdom or our favourite; the Behind the Seeds Tour at Epcot's The Land Pavilion. A great plus - DVC Members receive a discount on this tour! It's fun, educational and a great change of pace.

Consider a day trip to check out the Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Disney's Fort Wilderness, wander along the trails and even try your hand at some pole fishing while you're there. If you hang around 'til dinner time, be sure to visit Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long, followed by a movie under the stars.

Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel with your great question Shannon!
Have a Magical, Happy New Year!

    Kirsten
