Hiya Karen,
Welcome back to planDisney! We are honored that you continue visiting us to help plan your magical vacations! Let me be the first to wish your son a Happy Birthday! I know that at Disneyland Resort it will be the “Best.Day.Ever!” Don’t forget to pick up a complimentary Celebration Button at Guest Services at
Disney California Adventure Park or inside
City Hall at Disneyland Park so that Cast Members and other Guests can recognize this momentous occasion.
Hmm, Karen, this is definitely a complex situation. Your son will go from a child ticket to an adult ticket during your vacation, which is quite a milestone for multiple reasons. Disneyland Resort uses the honor system for Theme Park tickets, so you are not asked to provide proof of age when purchasing
Theme Park tickets at this time. I spoke to a Cast Member, and the official Disneyland Resort policy is that when buying tickets, you should use the age that your child would be turning while traveling. Since you mentioned your son would be turning ten during your trip, this would mean your son would need an “adult” ticket for this birthday trip.
I hope this was helpful, Karen. I know it will be a magical birthday trip, but if there is anything you need from us to help you make it even more special, please come back and see us.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
