Hey, howdy, hey! I am taking my son on a 16th birthday trip to WDW over Super Bowl weekend. Where would you recommend we watch the game? Thanks so much!

And a "Hey, Howdy, Hey!" to you, too, Anne! Welcome to planDisney! It warms my heart to hear that you are taking your son on a birthday trip to Walt Disney World. I have done this with some of my daughters over the years, and those have been such special experiences. I've found that even the most "grown-up" of teens enjoys being a kid again. While thrill rides will be at the top of his must-do list, don't skip all of the attractions that are geared toward families and children, or you might miss out on some of the best magic.

Now, let's get to your question. I'm married to an avid football fan, so watching the Super Bowl is a priority for our family. If I'm being honest, though, I'm personally more interested in the snacks and commercials. For viewing the big game at Walt Disney World, I've found restaurants at Disney Springs to be a great option. Splittsville Dining Room and City Works Eatery and Pour House both have lots of screens and a sports bar atmosphere. Unfortunately, at only a month out, neither has reservations open for that evening. Planet Hollywood does have availability, though, and I just spoke to a cast member there. She said they do have screens in the bar area and will have the Super Bowl on. If you decide to go this route, plan to check in early for your reservation and let them know that you would like to be seated where you can see the screens.

I'm not sure where you are staying, but many of the Disney Resort Hotels have pool bars, as well as indoor bars, with televisions. This could be a fun and convenient way to enjoy the game with some energy from fellow football fans, but without some of the crowds of the larger establishments. These types of venues tend to have very limited seating, so I suggest you arrive early. Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a popular spot for viewing sports events. It is an outdoor space, so dress accordingly. Victoria Falls Lounge at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a good possibility, as well. I simply love this resort and never pass up an opportunity to spend time at this bar. Rix Sports Bar & Grill in Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a great place to take in any televised sports event, but they accept reservations and are already booked for the night of the Super Bowl.

Since you are a small party, you could always try to walk up and get on a waiting list at any of the places that don't currently have available tables. With the popularity of the Super Bowl, though, this may be a long shot.

One thing to note - You will not be allowed to park at a Disney Resort Hotel unless you are staying there or have a dining reservation, so plan to take Disney's Complimentary Resort Transportation or a rideshare service.

I hope this helps, Anne! I know that you are going to make the most magical memories on this mother-son trip! Please wish your son the happiest of birthdays from all of us here at planDisney! If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
